PHYSICS and ASTRONOMY CLUB CONSTITUTION

 

ARTICLE I

NAME

The name of this organization shall be Physics and Astronomy Club.  This is a student organization at The unity academy.

ARTICLE II

OBJECTIVES

The Club intends to:

-promote growth in the understanding of physics and general science

-promote interest in physics through field trips, entertainment, movies and creative science activities

-promote astronomy as a hobby

-hold field activities like stargazing, solar viewing and observations of other similar natural phenomena;

-be more familiar with astronomy-related equipment like telescopes, binoculars, etc.

-design and construct telescopes and other optical apparatus

– publish newsletters, posters and others informative materials on physics and Astronomy

-develop scientific temper among students.

ARTICLE III

MOTTO

The motto of this club shall be “Loving Physics is loving nature”.

ARTICLE IV

Requirements for membership:

  • An interest in astronomy or astronomy-related sciences.
  •  A willingness to learn and participate.

ARTICLE V

NOMINATION AND ELECTIONS

At least one week notice shall be provided for any meeting at which an election is to be held.

The club has the ultimate control over the selection method of its officers, whether through election or appointment. The election method must be consented by 2/3 of the members of the club. Officers will be elected by secret ballot. The advisor(s) will tally the votes and announce the winning officers.

ARTICLE VI

OFFICERS AND DUTIES

The leadership positions in the club shall be:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  •  Treasurer
  •  Secretary

Suggested officer duties are as follows:

  • President

The club president has ultimate control of, and responsibility for, the club and all of its actions. This includes running/overseeing all club meetings and functions in a safe, responsible, and democratic fashion.

President shall preside over meetings, coordinate events and any other miscellaneous duties when necessary; and also delegate certain duties to other officers when appropriate.

  • Vice-President

The vice-president has the duty of assisting the president in his/her duties. This includes acting in place of any officers who cannot attend a meeting. The vice-president acts as liaison between the officers and the club members–overseeing committees, setting up meeting sessions, and enforcing all the school and club rules and regulations at club functions.

  • Secretary

The secretary has the duty of keeping all club records. The secretary reports directly to the president.

  • Treasurer

The treasurer is to keep accurate records of money collected and spent.

  • Advisor

The physics Club advisor must be a physics teacher. An advisor will be selected by a majority vote of members. He/she must attend scheduled club meetings. The advisor must show an interest for the betterment of the club. The advisors must approve the agenda for each meeting. The advisor will oversee all physics club activities and will be informed of any and all information dealing with the club.

Article VII

MEETING

There will be a meeting every Thursday in physics laboratory. The duration of the meeting is up to the club to decide.

  • Meetings are optional.  However, continuous absences from meetings shall result that member’s possible expulsion from the club. Eligibility for field trips will be based upon physics club attendance, and performance on skills required for the field trip.
  • Meeting shall be conducted civilly, without negative comments directed towards another member(s).
  • The officers may call additional meetings when needs arise.
  • During meeting there will be held discussions about topics such as kinematics, dynamics, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism,   astronomy  and other similar topics.
  • Students and teachers alike will participate in a group discussion about the topics listed above.  They will discuss and grow in their knowledge of understanding these principles of physics.

Article VII

AMENDMENT

Amendment to this constitution must be decided by 2/3 of the club and cosigned by the president and club advisor. The change shall be put into effect immediately unless otherwise   stipulated in the amendment.

STATEMENT OF CONFORMITY

The physics Club shall abide by the rules and regulations of the school.
